Collection: 'Okika

Inspired by the ʻOkika (orchids) that once flourished in our 'ohana’s front yard, this design honors the enduring beauty that grew in the heart of our multigenerational home. These ʻOkika, my mama’s favorite flower, were a testament to her love for creating beauty and nurturing life. I can still picture her tending to her garden in the soft morning light, a legacy of care and resilience that lives on through this design.

As I’ve spoken with other fire survivors, I’ve heard countless stories of ʻOkika blooming in their gardens or cherished by their tutu. It seems these flowers have become a shared symbol of beauty and remembrance for so many of us. My hope for this piece is that it invites those who once had these flowers in their gardens to close their eyes and remember the vibrant blooms that once graced their yards. May these memories stay alive, offering comfort as we hold onto the hope of returning home to plant and nurture new gardens once again.

For those who feel drawn to add this piece to their collection, you are helping to keep these memories alive. Each ʻOkika piece is a tribute to resilience, love, and the beauty that rises from the ashes. Together, we honor the past, hold onto the present, and plant the seeds for a brighter future.
