Collection: The Hoʻihoʻi Relief Collection: It’s a Kākou Thing
In August 2023, when the fire took our homes and our businesses, we learned what it truly means to be carried. We didn't survive on our own... we survived because of you. From every corner of these islands, across every channel, you showed up for LAHAINA with steady hands when ours were shaking. You gave us the strength to see a tomorrow when our today was still in ashes.
Now, as the recent storms have swept across the pae ʻāina, submerging homes, ancestral loʻi and pastures on Oʻahu, isolating the families of Molokaʻi, and tearing through the high country farms and historic valleys of Maui and Hawaiʻi Island, the weight of loss is being felt by our neighbors once again.
Hoʻihoʻi is about restoration. It is the act of returning the support we once received. This collection is our full circle moment, a promise kept from our mountain to yours. We know the exhaustion of the "after," and we also know what it feels like when the people of Hawaiʻi say, "You are not alone."
The Design: A Map of Our Unity
This is a visual record of our collective resilience drawn by the beautiful and talented @SHOPERIKADESIGNS. Every line and leaf in the "HAWAIʻI" design tells the story of communities currently doing the heavy lifting of recovery.
This artwork is a visual record of our collective resilience, honoring the families across our islands currently doing the heavy lifting. We look to the Hau blossoms and Kalo leaves of Oʻahu, where farmers and families waded through rising waters to save their land and their homes.
At the center sits the "W" for the West Side (Lahaina), anchored by the ʻUlu leaf and the silhouette of Mauna Kahālāwai with our "L". This is our signature of gratitude; it is Lahaina standing strong in unity with everyone across Maui, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, and Hawaiʻi island currently digging out from this storm.
We recognize the grit of those clearing the wreckage where the waters ran swiftest, from the Protea on the mountain slopes to the ʻĪao Needle, Kukui, and Pūhala reaching from the deep valleys to the shorelines.
Across the ʻOkina and the final "I", we see the Coffee cherries and ʻŌhiʻa Lehua of Hawaiʻi Island, honoring the growers and ‘ohana working through the wind damage to protect what remains.
Maile is woven through the design, representing the line of kōkua that connects us all in this effort.
Direct Support. Pure Fabric.
When you purchase from the Hoʻihoʻi Relief Collection, you are funding a movement of direct action. You are becoming part of a story where we take care of our own.
We chose 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton because recovery should be grounded in what is clean and safe. No harsh chemicals, no synthetic shortcuts, just earth grown softness for the 'ohana doing the hard work of rebuilding their lives.
The Mission: Direct-to-’Ohana
100% of the proceeds from the Hoʻihoʻi Relief Collection will be distributed through Help Maui Rise specifically for those requesting aid at STORMKOKUA.COM . No middleman. No corporate cuts. Just one island chain taking care of its own.
We know the trauma of the "after." We also know the power of the "together." You showed up for us. Now, we show up for you. Because recovery is never a solo journey, "it’s a kākou thing."
