Collection: 'Ulu Kapa Kuiki

ʻUlu Kapa Kuiki is a new chapter in our story, an evolution of our love for Lahaina, still grounded in Ka Malu ʻUlu O Lele, but reimagined through fresh eyes and hands. This design carries the same heart, but with its own voice, stitched with meaning, shaped by imperfection, and brought to life by the most unexpected artist: our youngest son and inspiration behind our brand, Henōhea himself.

Without even knowing it, Henohea’s hand helped shape part of this pattern. His unfiltered marks, unpolished, unplanned, and completely perfect, remind us that beauty is often found in what’s real and raw. This design doesn’t strive for flawlessness. Instead, it embraces every uneven line, every wobble, every honest stroke. It's a piece of him. A piece of us.

And just as this design reflects our deepest values, so does the material we chose to carry it.

ʻUlu Kapa Kuiki is made with TENCEL™, a premium, plant based fiber crafted from sustainably sourced wood pulp, most often eucalyptus, beech, or spruce trees. It’s celebrated for its light, breathable feel, smooth finish, and clean, structured drape. It has no stretch, making it ideal for creating timeless pieces that hold their shape while feeling weightless against the skin.

What makes TENCEL™ truly special goes far beyond feel.

It is biodegradable, meaning that at the very end of its life, it returns to the earth without leaving behind harmful microplastics or toxins. But this is not a fragile fabric. TENCEL™ is known for its strength, durability, and long lasting quality, even with everyday wear. It’s made to move with you through life, while also respecting the land we walk on.

We also chose TENCEL™ because it is produced in a closed loop system that recycles water and solvents, reducing environmental impact. It’s OEKO-TEX® certified, which means it has been rigorously tested and cleared of harmful substances, making it safer for our bodies and better for our keiki’s future.

We didn’t cut corners. With every design, we aim to do better. While this material comes with a greater investment for us, we felt it was important to make that commitment in order to be more responsible stewards of our ʻāina. We’re committed to creating clothing that honors the land we come from, the people we serve, and the stories we carry.

We believe our choices matter. That fashion should heal, not harm. That we must mālama ʻāina and mālama our bodies, with every decision, from the design to the fabric to the hands that bring it to life.

ʻUlu Kapa Kuiki is more than a print. It’s a reflection of the layers that make up our community. Like a quilt, it’s patchworked with memory, spirit, and purpose. It speaks to the strength that grows quietly beneath the surface and the stories we pass down with care.

When you wear this piece, you’re wrapped in more than fabric. You’re wrapped in the soul of Lahaina. You’re carrying a piece of Henōhea, of ʻohana, of healing, and you’re helping that story move forward, one stitch at a time.
