We selected 100% Tencel over conventional rayon or petroleum-based synthetics (like polyester) because it aligns with our commitment to kuleana (stewardship) and your wellbeing:
| Feature | Tencel (Sustainable) | Traditional Rayon / Synthetics |
| Aina (Land) Impact | Sourced from sustainably harvested wood; closed-loop production is environmentally responsible. | Often requires chemically intensive production; synthetics are petroleum-based plastics. |
| Breathability | High; manages moisture and is naturally cooling. | Low; traps heat and moisture against the skin. |
| Benefits | Naturally soft, gentle on sensitive skin, and resistant to bacteria growth. | Can cause irritation; synthetics are plastic and may off gas chemicals. |
The Malu ‘Ulu o Lele Collection Story
The design of the Kristelle Jumper carries the memory of Malu ‘Ulu o Lele, The shaded breadfruit grove of Lele, the traditional name for a thriving, abundant Lahaina.
This collection is a powerful testament to our history and a collective pledge for a restored future. When you wear or see this design, it reminds us of the brilliance of a thriving Lahaina and stands as a powerful call to kuleana (responsibility). It challenges us to do better as a people and a community, to re-establish the stewardship of our past and restore balance to our place, ensuring that the conditions for the August 8th tragedy never happen again.
It is a wearable vision of resilience, community, and the promise of a sustained future.
